| CALCULATING WHAT SIZE DANCE FLOOR YOU NEED |
|
| |
|
|
|
| Use this section to decide what size dance floor you will need for
your event. |
| A good rule of thumb for planning an event: 30% of the total number
of guests will be on the dance floor at any given time. |
| Step 1: Measure your space |
| Decide how much space you have for a dance floor. Or, many people
use our portable flooring as a floor for the dining area, too. Either
way, you will need precise measurements. |
| Step 2: How many guests will attend? |
| If space is not an issue, use the chart below as a reference guide
to what size dance floor you require. |
| For your reference, here is a typical installation chart: |

| Step 3: How to calculate square footage |
| If you don’t know how to calculate square footage, here’s
a little tutorial. Refer to the example dance floor on the right. |
- Measure width and length of your floor. In the example,
the width is 12ft (A) and the length is 18ft (B).
- To calculate the total square footage, use the formula
AxB = total sq ft. In the example, 12ft x 18ft = 216 square
feet.
|
|
|
| Step 4: How to calculate the number of edge pieces and corner
pieces you will need to finish off your dance floor |
| Once you have calculated the size of your dance floor, you are ready
to figure out how many edge pieces you will need. Edge pieces are
1ft x 3.5 inches and slope to the ground. |
- To calculate the total number of edge pieces, use the formula
A+B+C+D = Total edging In the example, 12+18+12+18 = 60 total
edge pieces.
|
| Note: this formula assumes that you require edge pieces on all 4 sides. Adjust accordingly if
your dance floor will be against the wall or in a corner - which might eliminate your need for
edging on all 4 sides. |
| | | |
Edging and corner pieces attach
to the dance floor tile
quickly and easily. The sloped
edging provides a finished
look and eliminates the tripping
hazard. |
